ULLAS-NAV BHARAT SAKSHART AKARYAKRAM

To achieve the target of 100% literacy, the Government of India approved a centrally sponsored innovative scheme called Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram or New India Literacy Program for FYs 2022-2027. The scheme is popularly known as ULLAS: Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society, upholding the motto "Jan- Jan Sakshar". The scheme is targeted at all non-literates of age 15 years and above. - The scheme, in line with NEP 2020, targets adults (aged 15 and above) who cannot attend school or attain formal education. It focuses on imparting Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), through critical life skills, such as Digital Literacy, financial literacy, legal literacy, environmental literacy, health & hygiene, and child care. Implemented in a hybrid mode, States/UTs have flexibility in offline , online ,or combined approachesfora200-hourprogram.The scheme comprises five components: (i) Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, (ii) Critical Life Skills, (iii) Basic Education,(iv) Vocational Skills ,and(v) Continuing Education .The ULLAS Scheme will be implemented through VOLUNTEERISM, encouraging citizen participation, and emphasizing DUTY or kartavyabodh towards nation- building.Department of School Education Chandigarh Administration has launched the ULLAS SchemeF.Y2022-2027to attain the target of 100% literacy.Thereare1,25,999non-literates(Census,2011)in UT Chandigarh  as per letterD.O.No.9-1/2022-NLM.1,dated 21st February 2022,Government of India, Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, New Delhi.
