Extra Coaching classes

It has been decided to start the Extra Coaching classes in selected institutions for the economically weak and socially under privileged students of the entire Govt. Model Sr. Sec./Sr.Sec./Model High and High Schools of Chandigarh in order to enhance the academic potential of these children lacking support at home and to provide them better opportunity on the following broad lines:-

II- Eligibility and criteria for Identification of beneficiaries

The applications from the interested students could be called through the Head of schools on the proforma to be prepared by the office of DPI(S) for this purpose. The Principal of the area concerned shall recommend his/her case for consideration of the DPI(S). The identification of the beneficiaries under above schemes shall be made by the DPI(S) on the basis of his/her Economic, Social back ground and Academic performance at the lower examination.

III- Centers for studies

In the first instance two coaching centers i.e. Govt. High School, Sector 23, Chandigarh and Govt. Model Sr.Sec.School, Sector 33 or any other such institution as may be deemed fit.

IV- Faculty and other Staff

The faculty for this purpose should be richly qualified and having professional experience for running such courses. For Extra Coaching Classes for 9th to 12th classes the Teaching Staff of Govt. Schools can be allowed on the payment of specific honorarium/remuneration approved by the competent authority. But the teaching under this scheme shall be result oriented in addition to the normal working of the institutions.

V- Rates of Honorarium/Fee to the Teaching Faculty

A sum of Rs. 200/- to Rs.300/- per hour was recommended for payment to the teaching faculty depending upon the number of period taken by each teacher/faculty members to be arranged from outside i.e. retired experienced teacher as the case may be.

VI Budget/Financial Implications 

Total financial implication on the implementation of this scheme/programme was expected to involve a sum of Rs. 25.00 lacs including contingent charges on stationery and office expenses for running these courses.
